Acer palmatum

Acer palmatum (Japanese maple) is a highly prized ornamental shrub or tree, renowned for its decorative foliage and spectacular colors throughout the year. It is an excellent choice for elegant gardens, small courtyards, terraces or premium landscaping.

General characteristics

• Height: 2–6 m (depending on variety)

• Width: 2–5 m

• Port: rounded, umbral or columnar, sometimes weeping

• Leaves: palmate, finely divided, extremely decorative

Planting requirements

• Exposure: penumbra; tolerates morning sun but must be protected from strong afternoon sun
