Euonymus jap. ‘Aurea’

Euonymus japonicus 'Aurea' is an evergreen shrub, highly appreciated in landscaping due to its decorative foliage and good resistance over time.

Main features

• Foliage: glossy, persistent, intense green with golden-yellow edges or spots, very bright throughout the year

• Port: compact, bushy, easy to shape

• Dimensions at maturity: 1–2 m high and wide (can be kept smaller by pruning)

• Growth: moderate

• Flowers: small, whitish-green, discrete (spring-summer), with little decorative value

Planting conditions

• Exposure: sun or partial shade (the yellow color is more intense in the sun)

• Soil: well drained, fertile; tolerates a wide range of soils

• Watering: moderate; resistant to short periods of drought after installation

• Resistance: good for urban pollution and repeated mowing

Maintenance

• It lends itself very well to regular haircuts, being ideal for:

  • low or medium hedges

  • geometric shapes (block, ball)

  • decorative borders

• Pruning is done in the spring and, if necessary, in the summer.

Use in the garden

• Decorative hedge

• Solitary or group plantings

• Modern facilities, terraces, urban spaces

• Excellent contrast with plants with dark green or purple foliage

Major advantage: permanent decorative appearance, including winter, with an elegant color contrast and low maintenance.
