Pseudosasa (ornamental bamboo)

Pseudo-Saxon is a kind of ornamental bamboo evergreen, prized for its dense foliage and exotic appearance.

Main features:

• Leaves: long, narrow, intense green, very decorative

• Height: 2–5 m, depending on species and conditions

• Growth: vigorous; most species are invasive (running rhizomes)

• Exposure: sun or partial shade

• Soil: fertile, well drained, kept slightly moist

• Resistance: good in the cold (approx. –15 / –20°C, depending on the species)

Use in the garden:

• vegetable screen, natural hedge

• modern or Asian gardens

• solitary planting or in large containers (recommended with anti-rhizome barrier)

Maintenance:

• requires spread control (barrier for rhizomes)

• minimal cuts, just for shape or dry leaves

Suitable for gardens where a quick exotic effect and green mass are desired all year round.
